Converting Non-Woven

A converting operation, as the name implies, transforms a roll of Non-Woven material into a much more useful form, where its functionality can be put to use and utilized to many good purposes. Consequently, the real focus of a converting operation is on adding value to the Non-Woven fabric.

In general, Non-Woven fabrics can be converted much faster and with greater flexibility than can woven or knit fabrics. Non-Woven can be slit in both the machine direction and cross direction without fraying.

We at Feathtouch produce converted Non-Woven by using both simplex converting and complex converting processes. For example we produce 15-inch strips out of rolls for the shoulder pad industry by slitting in the machine direction to provide a roll of fabric at a reduced width. Similarly the production of a wiping cloth cut to a set dimension and placed into a package is an example of a simplex converting operation.

Multiplex converting, on the other hand, involves numerous complex operations, generally involving not only Non-Woven fabrics but also other components in producing a complex, final product. We at Feathtouch also do Multiple Converting in the embossing process in which the needle punched felt is first seamed with adhesives, heat-sealed, cut, folded and shaped in a variety of ways to produce the shoe-lining material. In general it can be processed with lower cost, higher speed and substantially greater versatility than comparable materials.

For convenience of our clients we try to adapt as per the customers requirement, so that extra processes required at their end can be done at lower cost and higher speed but there is always a limitation with the converting process.
